IIT COUNSELING FROM 24th JUNE
The Results of JEE (Advanced)-2013 based on which admissions to IITs are made will be announced on Sunday, 23rd June, 2013. Successful candidates need to log in and give their choices for courses offered by the sixteen IITs and ISM, Dhanbad, from 24th June till 30th June, 2013. The first list of seat allocation will be announced online by 4th July, 2013.
Those desirous of joining the B.Arch programme (available at IIT Roorkee and IIT Kharagpur) will have to qualify an Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT). This test will be held at IIT Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee from 9.00 A.M to 12.00 Noon on Friday, 28th June, 2013. In order to appear in this test, the student has to register online for AAT between 24th and 25th June, 2013 at the JEE(Advanced) portal.
JEE (Advanced)-2013, for admissions to undergraduate programmes at all IITs and ISM, Dhanbad, was held on Sunday, 2nd June, 2013. The answer key for both Paper-1 and Paper-2 of this exam will be displayed at the JEE (Advanced) websites of zonal IITs on 11th June, 2013.
The student can view his/her answer sheet and marks obtained between 14th and 17th June, 2013 at the same website. There will also be a provision for the student to request for review of specific questions and its marks. The student will have to pay a fees of Rs.500 for each question to be reviewed.

Rhodes Scholarships for PG Admission in OXFORD University
Applications have been invited from young women and men of outstanding intellect, character, leadership, and commitment to service for the award of Rhodes Scholarships for the Academic Year 2013-14.
The Rhodes Scholarships are postgraduate awards supporting outstanding all-round students at the University of Oxford, and providing transformative opportunities for exceptional individuals.
A class of 83 Scholars is selected each year from Australia, Bermuda, Canada, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Jamaica & the Commonwealth Caribbean, Kenya, New Zealand, Pakistan, Southern Africa (including South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Namibia and Swaziland), United States, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
The Rhodes scholarship covers University and College fees and a stipend for living expenses for two and possibly three years of study at the University of Oxford. The stipend is set at £13,000 (UK pounds) per annum (2012-13). The Scholarship also covers travel to and from Oxford at the commencement and conclusion of tenure (subject to certain conditions), and private health insurance. In some cases, fees for a fourth year of doctoral study are underwritten.
Eligibility criteria for the Rhodes scholarship (India):
1. The Scholarships are open to citizens of India.
2. Candidates must be of such an age that they will have passed their 19th and not have passed their 25th birthday on the 1st October 2014.
3. Candidates must have at least a first class degree in Humanities, Sciences, Law, Engineering, Agriculture or Medicine from an Indian University. Candidates who are in the final year of a degree course and have exceptionally bright academic record may also apply.
4. Candidates for medical studies should consult the Secretary, as well as the Medical School Offices at Oxford, before submitting an application. Particular difficulties may arise for those wishing to do research in clinical departments.
5. Marriage is not a bar to applying for, or holding, a Rhodes scholarship. The granting of an interview is entirely within the discretion of the Selection Committee. Candidates applying online may upload electronic copies of the following documents. However, all candidates for interview must bring with them their original certificates, as indicated below.
1. Either a School leaving certificate or an extract from a University Register signed by the Registrar, as evidence of age (attested copy only, which will not be returned.)
2. Evidence of Courses taken and degrees, honour and other academic distinctions obtained. This evidence must be formally certified by the Registrar or any other responsible officer of the candidate’s University (attested copies of certificates only, which will not be returned).
3. (a) A signed essay (preferably typed) by the candidate detailing the proposed course of study at Oxford, general interests and activities, including sports and future aims of the candidate.
(b) The essay should not exceed 1000 words and should be in simple and direct English.
(c) Please take time and write this essay carefully because it essentially forms the basis for the candidate’s interview. The essay will be read not only by the Selection Committee but also by the Oxford Colleges to which the successful candidates apply for admission.
4. The names and addresses of six persons well acquainted with the candidate, under at least three of whom he/she must have studied. Please ensure that at least three of the six referees write about the candidate’s academic ability and attainments. These references will be used in making application to Oxford Colleges. It is neither necessary nor desirable to include names of prominent persons in the country, if they do not know the candidate well. Such references often go waste. Instead include names of those who know the candidates well and know their strengths and weaknesses.
5. One unmounted passport size photographs.
6. A medical certificate on a special form provided by the Rhodes Trust, from an approved doctor will be required from the candidates short listed. The Rhodes Trustees reserve the right to cancel the selection of any candidate with an adverse report.

B.Tech Admissions at IIST
Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology, a Deemed to be University, located at Valiamala P.O., Thiruvananthapuram, has invited applications for admission to the B.Tech Programmes in (i) Aerospace Engineering (ii) Avionics and (iii) Physical Sciences, at the Institute for 2013-14.
There are a total of 156 seats of which, 60 each are for B.Tech in Aerospace Engineering and B.Tech in Avionics. There are 36 seats for B.Tech in Physical Sciences. More details on the three Programmes are given in the Prospectus.
Only Indian citizens are eligible to apply for admission to IIST. Those belonging to General category (GEN) and Other Backward Classes (OBC) categories must have been born on or after October 1, 1988. Applicants belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Persons with Disabilities (PD) categories born on or after October 1, 1983 are also eligible.
Applicant should have passed their Qualifying Examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as subjects of the curriculum. Those belonging to GEN and OBC categories must have secured an aggregate of at least 70% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) in the qualifying examination and those belonging to SC/ST/PD should have an aggregate of at least 60% marks in PCM subjects in the qualifying examination.
The qualifying examinations include (i) The final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by any recognized Central/State Board, such as Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi; Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (ISCE), New Delhi, etc (ii) Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination conducted by a recognized Board/University (iii) Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy(iv) Vocational Higher Secondary Examination (v) Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects (vi) Any Public School/Board/University examination in India or in any foreign country recognized as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) (vii) General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London / Cambridge /Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level (viii) High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.
In case the relevant qualifying examination is not a public examination, the candidate must have passed at least one public (Board or Pre-University) examination at an earlier level. Applicant should have appeared for the Joint Entrance Examination (Main)-2013 conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi and should have qualified to appear for Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced)-2013 conducted by IITs. They should also secure the minimum prescribed category-wise marks in JEE (Advanced)-2013 as specified for their category, to qualify for admission to IIST.
General Candidates (GEN) should secure at least 20 pc marks in aggregate and at least 5 pc marks in each of the three subjects, Physics Chemistry and Mathematics. Other Backward Community-Non Creamy Layer OBC (NCL) Candidates should secure at least 18 pc marks in aggregate and at least 4.5 pc marks in each of Physics Chemistry and Mathematics.SC, ST & PD Candidates should secure at least 10 pc marks in aggregate and at least 2.5 pc marks in each of Physics Chemistry and Mathematics. The marks secured by the candidate in JEE (Advanced)-2013 examination will be used only for deciding his/her eligibility for admission to IIST and not for preparing IIST Admission Rank List.
Rank list will be based on the position of the applicants who have registered online for the admission to IIST, in the All-India Rank list (including category rank) prepared and published by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), by giving 60% weightage to the score in JEE (Main) examination and 40% weightage to the normalised score in Class 12 qualifying examination.
Seats will be reserved for SC (15%), ST (7.5%), OBC NCL (27%) and Persons with Disabilities (3% - Horizontal Reservation), as per rules and subject to production of necessary documents specified.
Applications can be submitted online, at http://admission2013.iist.ac.in/till 11.30 pm (IST) on 10th July 2013. For online registration of the application, applicants should have access to a computer, a laser printer and Internet connection. They should also have their JEE (Main)-2013 Rol lNumber, JEE (Advanced)-2013 Roll Number and a valid email id. Applicant should read and follow the instruction given in the portal and fill all the details in the online application form. After submitting the information asked in Step 1 and 2, applicant has to download/Print the Challan to remit the registration fee. The fee for male candidates in GEN and OBC categories is Rs. 600/-, that for female candidates in GEN and OBC categories is Rs. 300/-. The fee for all SC, ST, PD candidates will be Rs.300/-.
The payment is to be made in any one of the branches of State Bank of India (SBI) or Union Bank of India (UBI), using the Challan that has been downloaded / printed from the website on successful completion of Online Registration. The last date for remitting the Registration fee is 12th
July, 2013. Applicants residing abroad can remit the Registration fee through Demand Draft (DD) issued by any bank outside India. The Demand Draft for the amount applicable should be drawn in favour of ‘The Registrar, IIST’, payable at Thiruvananthapuram, India. This is a special facility extended to Indian nationals residing abroad alone. Any Demand Draft issued from a bank within India will not be accepted.
After remittance of the fees, applicant has to enter the Bank Transaction Details by logging into the online application portal using Registration Number and Password. Applicant should also upload the scanned image in PDF/JPEG format of the Institute copy of Challan countersigned by Bank. Those who have applied online for B.Tech Admission to IIST and secured a Registration number will only be considered for admission to IIST. IIST provides Financial Assistance Package funded by Department of Space (DOS), Government of India for students admitted to B.Tech programme, once in a semester, to meet the expenses of education including Tuition Fee, Students Amenity Fee, Hostel charges including dining, Establishment charges and Medical cover. An additional Book Allowance of Rs.3000/- is also provided to each student for every semester. In the event a student, while studying in IIST, fails to secure a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 7.5 out of a 10 point scale, in any semester, the student is liable to pay all the expenses except Tuition fee and Student Amenity fee. In the succeeding semester if he/she earns GPA greater than 7.5 out of 10, then he/she is exempted from the payment of charges as stipulated above in the following semester.
As performance based financial assistance is provided by DOS to the B.Tech students of IIST, ISRO/DOS will have the first right to absorb them, subject to the human resource requirements of ISRO/DOS. The job absorption will be as per the recruitment norms of ISRO/DOS Centres for IIST graduates. To be eligible for absorption in ISRO/DOS, the student should have completed the B.Tech. Programme in four years with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 7.5 out of 10. Details are given in the Prospectus.
A student who joins IIST to pursue B.Tech Programme is required to execute a Surety bond for an amount of Rs. 10 Lakhs, in the prescribed format (on an Rs.100/- Non-Judicial paper) duly signed by the student, parent/ and surety at the time of admission at the Institute. The student is mandated to serve as Scientist/Engineer in the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) /Department of Space for a minimum period of 3 years.

Eligibility:
Candidates seeking admission to MSc Course must have passed BSc (Honours) / BSc (General) / BSc Programme examination or BA (Honours) Examination, as the case may be of the University of Delhi or of any other University whose examination is recognized by the University of Delhi, as equivalent to any of the aforesaid examination and fulfill other conditions of eligibility.
Age Requirements
As per Ordinance I of the University, there is no minimum age bar for admission to the under-graduate and post-graduate courses in the University and its colleges except in the courses where the respective regulatory bodies (such as MCI, AICTE etc.) have prescribed the minimum age requirement in their regulations.
Application form for Admission
The Bulletin of Information with the Application Form will be available from the Office of the Faculty of Science, Porta Cabin, Near Department of Zoology, University of Delhi, Delhi - 110007. The Prospectus can be obtained by depositing a draft for Rs.200/- in favour of Registrar, University of Delhi payable at State Bank of India, Service Branch, Delhi (Code No. 7687).
Procedure for Admission through Entrance Examination:
The completed application form together with Photostat copies (only) of each of the detailed mark sheet of BSc Exam, Matriculation / Secondary School Certificate bearing the date of birth, Admission Ticket and Bank Draft on account of Exam. Fee for Rs.500/- ( 250/- for SC / ST Category) in Favour of Registrar, University of Delhi, Delhi Payable at State Bank of India, Service Branch, New Delhi (Code No. 7687) Shall be submitted to the Head, Department of (Quote the Subject offered for MSc) University of Delhi (North Campus) Delhi-110007 in person or reach by post on or before 31.5.2013 up to 4.00 pm.
Procedure for Admission for Others:
Candidates seeking admission based on merit on the basis of marks obtained in BSc (Hons.) Exam. of Delhi University only (not through Ent. Exam.) will apply for admission on the prescribed Application form (marked ‘B’) together with Photostat copies each of the detailed mark sheet of BSc Exam. Matriculation / Secondary School Certificate bearing date of birth. Application duly completed in all respect should reach the Office of the Assistant Registrar, Faculty of Science, University of Delhi, (North Campus) Delhi-110007 in person or reach by registered post by 31.5.2013 at 4.00 pm.
The Entrance Examination will be conducted during 14th June 2013 to 20th June 2013.
